Casuals 0 Royston Town 2
Disappointment all round as Casuals drop out of the Southern League Cup.
A determined Royston see off Casuals hopes. In a very tight game, it was obvious from the early exchanges that both sides had a eye on the Silverware in this game. With a standard of football expected of Step 3 football, both sides play good football. Admittedly it was Casuals who had most of the first half pressure, but lacked that final punch, with Royston looking useful on the break. So it was Royston who went it 1 up at half time, courtesy of a headed Mathew Bateman goal from a delicious free kick.
Casuals started the second half well applying more pressure but both sides lacked that final touch, it looked as though 0-1 was going to be the final score, however it was Bateman who added Roystons second with a header in a contest with Casuals keeper Jacob Adams.
Final score of 0-2 wasn't reflective of Casuals play, but it was a disappointed Casuals who now can only wish Royston Town all the best for the future.
