Casuals v Harrow Borough, Saturday 1st January 2022 K.O. 3-00pm at The Hub.
9th placed Casuals take on 10th placed Harrow Borough Saturday 1st January 2022 at The Hub Kick Off 3-00pm.
Following on from their euphoric victory in the Elmbridge derby, Casuals don't have an easy task, when they take on Harrow Borough in the Southern League Premier South.
Harrow have had a "mixed bag" of a season, no more so than their festive game against Hendon. Going 2-0 up with two goals from former Stags favourite, James (the goat) Ewington, Hendon scored two second half goals to level the game.
It looks another interesting game, to test Casuals improving season, with James Ewington appearing to be the main threat.
Casuals beat Harrow this season 2-1 in the Southern League Cup with goals from Adam Liddle and Zidan Ackers, that man James Ewington getting off the bench to score a late consolation goal for Harrow Borough, so again no real indicator to Saturdays game.
Following on from Holiday Mondays game there appear to be a buzz in the club. Many people, including my friends from our co-tenants, are murmuring of a double promotion. Well there's a long way to go for both clubs.
To me it appears that Farnborough and the Elmbridge Mets side, are enough ahead to have firm hopes of a top 5 finish. Hayes and Yeading United seem to got over their blip and look pretty firm for a top five finish.
Gosport are currently in a slump, having only won 2 of their last 9 games, that was against the two bottom clubs Merthyr and Wimborne, both at home. The "bubbling under" pack could be about 7or8 other clubs including Casuals (and Harrow). So Saturdays game has a lot to play for.
With a crowd (ratified by the Police), in excess of 500 on Monday, coupled with a good result and no National South or Combined Counties League games on, no doubt the powers that be, will hopeful of another large crowd.
