Met Police (Elmbridge) 0 v Casuals 2
A dominant performance by Casuals sees them home, in front of a large crowd, in The Elmbridge derby.
Goals either side of half time give Casuals a well deserved victory.
Casuals started the game looking the better and more determined of the two sides. Having most of the play in the first half, Casuals looked to push home their advantage, but Met Police did look to play on the counter attack. It was Casuals who, on balance of play, went in at half-time 1-0 up courtesy of a scrambled goal nurdled home by Tarik Moore-Azille.
Despite the Met half time "g up" it was Casuals who looked the more likely side to add to their goal tally and their second goal was not long in coming. To me the goal was scored directly from a corner, but I was told and video footage confirms, it was a deft back header from John Gilbert that found the net. Met Police tried to rally, but it was Casuals who were now played the better football. When James O'Halloran was brought down in the box, it was Rohdell Gordan who blasted the resultant penalty over the bar. Casuals were now in full swing now and it took a man of the match Liam Beach in the Met goal to prevent further damage with a superlative performance.
This was an excellent performance by Anthonys ever improving side, who now go 9th, two points of a play-off place. Although suggestions of an open topped coach tour of Walton, at the end of the season, (and some have suggested jointly with the small side from the borough), may be somewhat premature; Casuals are two points of a play off place and remain in two Cups.
Interesting the official attendance was 501, (80 more than the game at The Hub) and yes 1969swan there were a few "non-league" tourists, it does show the sort of attendances Casuals can attract.
