It's Saturday 5th September 2020.
I'm a, recently retired, supporter of local football. I've been watching Non-League/Amateur football for over 50 years. I have a mobile phone but it's not a camera phone. (my wife has a camera phone).
I've seen pre-season friendlies at 4 different grounds so far.
I was think of going to see Casuals play at Westfield, but it would appear you need to download an app.*
I then thought I go to The Hub to see Walton's 2nd team, but I was messaged by a Swans fan to say it's limited to150. Bearing in mind there was over 200 at Molesey on Tuesday and it's W&H 1st league match with Scotty in charge, could the gate exceed 150, probably, am I going to risk not getting in, I'm not that bothered.
Cobham are playing Southall and Molesey are playing Ascot United, but you need again to download an app onto you're mobile phone.
I'm going over to Sheerwater Rec to watch Hersham play Sheerwater Reserves; rather than Pirbright to see them play AFC Westend.
Tuesday night, I might have gone, for something different, to Oakwood to see Cobham play. Or, even Molesey, but again you need an app.
Yesterday, I spoke to a long standing Life Vice President of Walton Casuals, who's on a long term recovery from Covid-19. If I'd have gone to Westfield, I would have to drive past his door to get Westfield. I knew he want to have come, he could have sat in the back, we could have worn masks, he has had Covid-19, he would have loved to have seen the game, but he doesn't have a mobile phone.
As I said earlier, I've been to 4 PSF so far, one at step3, two at step5, one at step8. At every one I was asked for my name, area of residence (i.e. Walton O T) and a contact number. I and more than probably everyone else was only too willing to giving this information and observe social distancing/hand washing etc.
Many folk of my age, don't have camera phones, many like to get out and see local football.
I appreciate the benefits of using an app, but why can't a paper form of track an trace be used in conjunction with it.
