The usual History/Anoraks bits;- Casuals never played Met Police 1st team until they won promotion to the Isthmian League Div1 starting in 2005-06. (Although they regularly played their reserve side, up until 1991-92, in the Suburban League). Casuals & Met Police then played together for 6 seasons until the Met Police F.C. were promotion to the Isthmian Premier in 2011. Originally you had to be a serving Met Police officer to play for the club, this has now been relax and any Tom, Dick or Ollie can play for them. However their current manager Gavin Macpherson is a police office, as was his colourful predecessor Jim Cooper. Metropolitan Police F.C. started in the Metropolitan League (which eventual merged into the Athenian and then Isthmian Leagues) in 1960-61 although records show them playing in the F.A. Amateur Cup as early as 1929-30. Arguably their best season was in 2018-19, when they reached the 1st Round proper of the F.A. Cup losing at home to Newport County 0-2. In the same season having finished 3rd in the Southern Premier South, they won the Southern Premier South play offs, only to lose to Isthmian Premier side Tonbridge in the super play off. They did have the consolation of winning the Surrey Senior Cup that season, (Beating Casuals 4-3 in the semi-final). www.fchd.info/METROPOP.HTM
