It's devoid of any character or soul, unlike the old Waterside which was falling apart but at least felt proper non-league.
I think Mark has summed it up perfectly. Give me a step 4 or 5 club that has a real community feel over what you've got going on there any day of the week.

Its the soul of non league football. Going to a club with it's own bar, regulars keeping it going. Volunteers behind the pumps pulling decent priced beers while the same old lady who has been at the club longer than anyone can remember knocks up sandwiches. Ageing pictures on the wall of past glories. A shiny rented space with wipe clean tables, bare walls and worker from the gym pouring like warm cans into a pint glass for £4 a go. Watching a very average side in a soulless pre fab stadium you dont even own with just one stand. Simply horrific.

It was a generic example. Every club is only as good as its lifelong members, volunteers, supporters etc. Trouble is at Casuals there aren't any left! The sponsor has walked away. The volunteers, media etc all quit last season. The fans who have been attracted to the club in the last 2 or 3 years have all walked away. What is left? Walton Casuals have not one asset. There was a brilliant youth section that was the future of the club that has now gone. They play and train in a ground they do not own and so do not make a single penny from either matchday or non matchdays which is essential for all non league clubs. All there is coming in is entrance money which as crowds dwindle away probably just about covers Elmbridge Councils rent if the club are lucky. There is Tony Gale as Chairman and his son as manager (even though the club are reluctant to disclose this) and that is about it. If TG walked away what would be left? A club in name only with no assets, no ground, no youth section and no history. In other words nothing, 18 months ago there were boasts of a club on the rise when let's face facts it's actually a club which will exist in it's current guise in 5 to 10 years time.
